Sarcidano Barbagia di Seulo

The Sarcidano Barbagia di Seulo Mountain Community brings together 16 municipalities in Sardinia’s inland areas and works to enhance their environmental, cultural and local heritage, promoting the region as a tourist destination. With this goal in mind, it commissioned SEDPLUS to conceive and develop a tourism portal designed to tell the story of the area, showcase its excellence and guide visitors in discovering its experiences, landscapes and traditions.

Concept

Sixteen municipalities, one essence

The first step was to define the identity of the portal, building on the work developed by Professor Josep Ejarque and FTourism & Marketing. The destination management process that led to the creation of the "Sarcidano, Barbagia di Seulo" DMO also defined the payoff "Essenza di Sardegna", a synthesis of the area’s identity and positioning.

This concept shaped the portal project: a digital space capable of bringing together different realities within a single narrative, highlighting the distinctive qualities of each municipality while presenting the area as an authentic destination, rich in experiences and waiting to be discovered.

The project involves the sixteen municipalities that make up the Mountain Community: Escolca, Esterzili, Genoni, Gergei, Isili, Laconi, Mandas, Nuragus, Nurallao, Nurri, Orroli, Sadali, Serri, Seui, Seulo and Villanova Tulo.

The project

Building on this essential groundwork and the visual identity created by designer Mara Damiani, we conceived, designed and developed the tourism portal, defining its information architecture, visual language and content structure.

Municipalities, places of interest, nature, culture, traditions, flavours and experiences have been organised into an intuitive and engaging navigation journey, designed to guide visitors through the destination and make it easier to explore.

The portal brings informative and inspirational content together within a single browsing experience, creating a tool that not only helps visitors find their way around, but also conveys the identity of the area and inspires them to experience it first-hand.

Content Creation

The concept also guided the entire production of the photographic and video content. Once the visual language had been defined, we planned and produced shoots across the sixteen municipalities, creating a cohesive narrative aligned with the identity of the destination.

The images do more than simply document the places: they put the experiences offered by the area at the heart of the story. Trails, archaeological sites, villages, landscapes, traditions and activities come to life through the presence of the protagonists, allowing viewers to identify with them and imagine their own journey.

The decision to involve an under-30 couple and an over-40 couple allowed us to represent different sensibilities, interests and ways of travelling, conveying the image of an authentic, inclusive destination capable of engaging a diverse range of audiences.

The Travel Journal

We imagined the protagonists themselves sharing the experiences, encounters, emotions and impressions gathered along the way, transforming the visit into an authentic and engaging narrative.

The journal takes shape through the pages of a handwritten and hand-illustrated notebook, where photographs, notes, sketches and words intertwine to capture the more human side of the journey. What emerges is a story made up of small details and powerful emotions: the effort of a trail, the sense of wonder inspired by a landscape, the suspended silence of an archaeological site, an encounter with a tradition or the unexpected discovery of a place that leaves a lasting impression.
